Auburn Abroad...not to be missed

Studying abroad is an amazing opportunity that every student should take advantage of. It allows you to study in a foreign location while gaining experiences you will never forget. You are learning more than the academics in a classroom. It is a mixture of academic experience. You are personally learning new cultures and new traditions that have been going on all around us. If you are interested, you are required to attend one mandatory “Office of International Education Study/Intern Abroad Orientation Session.” Sessions are 30 minutes and held Thursdays at 3:00 pm and Fridays at 11:00am, in 201 Hargis Hall.

Any student wanting to go abroad through an Auburn program or any other university program must be enrolled in Auburn Abroad. Doing so allows for your grades earned to be posted on their AU transcript and earn course credit. This also allows you to get assistance in planning your program, be enrolled in the AU Emergency Medical Assistance Program (MEDEX), utilize financial aid and get assistance with immigration paperwork and visas.

There are certain requirements to go abroad. You are required to be enrolled in Auburn Abroad, be 19 years of age, have a minimum cumulative 2.25 GPA for undergraduate students, 3.0 for graduate students and a 2.50 for transient students. Also, you may not have any pending or judicial actions and must be in good academic standing.

If you do decide to apply for a study abroad program, you should act fast! Applications are reviewed on as they are completed (admission is rolling). So your chances of admission will increase the earlier you apply. Also, it is extremely important to get Auburn Abroad Academic Approval at least one month prior to the application deadline.

The Auburn Abroad package and application can be downloaded at www.auburn.edu/studyabroad. Payment of the Auburn Abroad fee is $455.00 and is billed through the AU Bursar. There are specific financial aid programs. PACT pays Auburn tuition toward study abroad (check with the Auburn Abroad office for paperwork).
