FBL Security

I have known the Finz and Longworth part of FBL for almost three years now. It came to no surprise to me when they began their own security business. These guys have been bouncers at most of the Auburn bars. The business was started in 2005. Longworth and Finz were only 20-years-old when they began it. They claimed they couldn't go wrong with this business, seeing as though security is required at many events in the area, such as the rodeo and fraternity parties. FBL was the only business of the… Continue

The Only "Huey-Suey" Magic Toy in the World

Mr. Dobbs is the owner of Dobb's Famous Bar B Que Restaurant, which has been opened for 92 years. His father was the one who established the company. It is placed in the middle of Dothan, Ala. I found myself in this restaurant as I was simply passing through, and I sat by Mr. Dobb's, unaware that he was the owner. After engaging in conversation for a short time, he told me he knows how to perform magic. Of course, I had to see this for myself. So, he brought out this thing-a-ma-bob with two stic… Continue

Meet Jasmine, a Server at the Auburn Waffle House

A group of friends and I went to Waffle House to enjoy a late-night meal. Jasmine was our server on this particular night. I've always wondered what it is like to work the grave yard shift at Waffle House, assuming that this shift includes dealing with many drunken customers. So, I decided to get Jasmine's input on how she feels about her job. "I'm not a morning person, so it works out good for me working this shift," she said. When I asked her if she gets jipped on tips by the drunks, she repli… Continue

Elvis Presley's Birthplace: Tupelo, MS

I was scheduled to work a promotion in Tupelo, Mississippi for the weekend. The night before leaving Auburn, my friend backed out on joining me. So, I found myself in a city I'd never been to all by myself. I decided to make the best of it, and researched the local attractions. After discovering that Elvis Presley's birthplace museum was less than five miles from my hotel, I loaded up and headed down the road. For $4, I was guided through the two-room house that Elvis was born in. It was amazing… Continue

Life After Graduation: The Story of an Entrepreneur

Jeff Greene, a recent Auburn University graduate, has put his degree to use. Greene began his own business immediately after graduation. He invested in lawn equipment and started advertising "Greene's Lawn Care."He was lucky enough to stumble upon a Web site where he ordered business cards. Greene also created a standard sign that he hung from the trailer behind his truck. "I feel that Auburn prepared me well for life after graduation. I was confident when I began my advertising, and I have had… Continue
